Gov. Charlie Crist has signed legislation into law that allows teachers to receive tuition waivers at state universities and colleges when taking courses in mathematics, science, and special education.

The measure, House Bill 723, was sponsored by state Rep. Maria Lorts Sachs, D-Delray Beach.

“This legislation will help provide teachers with the resources they need to better serve their students and improve the quality of education throughout the state,” Sachs said. “The idea for this legislation came from teachers in my district and I am pleased to see that it will become law.”
